Remember, Valencia is divided into zones. If you buy a ticket for a specific zone, it’s only valid for that zone. Be careful to choose the right one to avoid fines!

To make an appointment you must register on the website with a mandatory identification document.

To collect your Free Temporal Jove Season ticket it is necessary to present the original document of the person who requested it (DNI, NIE, Passport or SIP in the case of minors under 14 years of age who do not have a DNI). and the receipt of your previous appointment (printed or digital). To collect the Subscription with SIP number, you must also present the Family Book.

Once you have registered, it is important to follow these steps:

Select the pick-up centre or station, the day and time of your appointment.

Before getting on a Metrovalencia or MetroBus train or tram, you need to validate your ticket. If asked by FGV staff, you must show your ID, such as an ID card, NIE, or passport.

Using a season ticket fraudulently or letting someone else use it will result in punishment according to the rules.

Another trick is to use “Google Maps”, it is very easy to find routes and schedules within the app.

As you can see, the route goes from Valencia Airport to Valencia Station North, which is a train station. When you arrive at the Valencia Airport, head to the Metro Valencia and wait for the metro line 3. You can also track all the stops using Google Maps. If you happen to miss some stops or forget, you can easily check the map to get back on track. Once you reach Xativa, you’re already in the city center.

Don’t worry about the stops because once you’re on the metro, you’ll always hear the information and see on the screen which station is next.

For the people that like a cup of coffee to start their morning a café is a great place to study. A place near the beach known as LA FÁBRICA DE HIELO is known to be a great place to study. This place has comfortable seats, lots of space and a bar to get coffee. The lay-out of the building makes it an enjoyable place to study, with comfy sofas and ambient lighting.

For the ones that don’t live near the beach or don’t want to travel a long distance. There are alternative great places to get some work done. A couple of great places to study are Flying Bean Coffee, MAYAN COFFEES and Federal. All of these places are located near or in the city center and have different unique traits and of course plenty of coffee!

Libraries

Libraries are one of the most common and well-known places to study as a student. For the ones that want to find a good place to study, Biblioteca Pública de València Pilar Faus is the place we recommend. Located on the edge of the city center it is the perfect place for almost everyone.

There is also a place here to do work outside, which isn’t common for most libraries.

For the people that don’t live near this place, there is also a great library named: Biblioteca Pública de València Pilar Faus, this library is located inside of the University area, so for the people that live close by it is the perfect place to get work done.

There are of course other great libraries to study but these two are the ones that Flats2Enjoy recommends most.

A breath of fresh air

If the weather is good, why not study outside right? Valencia is a great city with lots of parks and open spaces. In a lot of these parks, it is possible to study. Flats2Enjoy has lined up two of its favorite parks to study in.

Firstly, located just above the city is a park known as Jardins del Real Vivers, with a stretch of around 670 meters there is plenty of place to study. With gardens, fountains and open fields, the park has a lot of different things to offer. With the benches spread throughout the park it is easy to find a comfortable spot you like and if you would rather sit on the grass don’t worry, the park offers lots of grass to study on too. Open year-round every day of the week, the park always allows people to get in and the fresh air can help you get some work done.

Park Turia is Flats2Enjoy’s second recommendation, this park stretches for 9 kilometers. In this strip are multiple places to study. One of the best places to study is near the City of Arts & Sciences. The stunning view this building has to offer is a great place to get some work done.

Throughout Turia park are other great places to study, each section of the park offers a different experience and just as Jardins del Real Vivers, the many benches and grass areas make for a perfect place to get some work done.

A friends house

If you want to change the environment, you study from time to time, studying at a friend’s place is a perfect solution. Together with another person you’re most likely to have more motivation to study, especially if the person does the same study as you, chatting and sharing ideas in a new environment can always prompt some great work. Exchanging information is easily shared and you may understand the subject better but remember, don’t make it too fun otherwise you may end up not studying at all!

Hassle free and easy to use. Valencia is no exception, here you also have this opportunity to ride quickly and stress free through the city.

The provider of this bike service in Valencia is named Valenbisi. At this company you can subscribe for a short- or long term. It works easily. You simply just go to the appstore on your phone and download the app Valenbisi. Making an account on the website using your PC is also possible but to use the service while you’re out a smartphone is required. Once you have done that you follow the steps and choose a plan that works for you. Once you’re ready you can walk to a so-called bike doc, follow the steps, and unlock your bike and exploring the city can begin.

There are a few downsides to this bike sharing service. For example, you need a credit card to subscribe to a plan and if the bike rack you are standing by is empty you need to find another bike rack. When you have arrived at your destination the rack could be filled with other bikes, then you need to search for another spot. Which isn’t ideal.  There is a possibility that you need to walk a couple of streets to arrive at your destination.

But if that’s not a big concern for you this is a perfect way to get around in Valencia. By using the app, you can easily see what is available. So, if you do it right, you will be fine. If you don’t have access to a creditcard or prefer having an own bike you can ride always and everywhere, the next one will be a better solution.

This plan provides a cashback that gives €20 euros each month of ownership, when you sell it back to Monbike you will get the €20 times the months of ownership back but we recommend contacting the company for a full disclosure about that. Do you like hiking? Would you like to see some stunning views and relax by hot springs after? Montanejos could be the trip for you! 

How to get there? 

Taking a trip with Happy Erasmus is the easiest way to go, due to its remote location. This trip also includes a couple of hikes; one 3 hour hike in the morning, with time to relax at the hot springs afterwards and a one hour hike to the black cave later in the day. Even if hiking is not your thing, relaxing by the hot springs and enjoying the surroundings is a lovely experience. There is even a snack bar there in case you get a bit hungry!

• Sagunto 

Situated north of Valencia is the beautiful town of Sagunto. Here you can find the historical Sagunto Castle. It is just a 40 min train from Valencia Nord station. You can enjoy the walk up to the castle and the lovely architecture. Whatsmore, the Castle is free to enter, and you can enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and city below. The castle dates back over two thousand years and includes Roman, Iberian and mediaeval remains. There is also a roman theatre, which is worth a visit; it is still used today for cultural and theatre events. Nearby you can also find Sagunto Beach. Enjoy the weather and relax with some tapas beside the water. During your visit to the city, there are plenty of places to stop and grab a coffee, tapas or bocadillo in a local bar. 

How to get there?
Sagunto can easily be reached by car in 30 mins or 40 mins by train from Valencia Nord Station.

• Alicante 

Do you enjoy the beach as well as beautiful architecture and chilled vibes? Situated 2.5h from Valencia, is the coastal city of Alicante. • Altea and Benidorm 

Benidorm is known to have one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain, enjoy the weather and relax by the sea. Wander around the hilltop, where there is the site of the former castle of Benidorm city, with views over the coastline and across the water to the L’illa de Benidorm nature reserve.

During the same trip, it is worth visiting the beautiful city of Altea. This is situated just east of Benidorm. Here, you can enjoy wandering through the streets of the old town, not forgetting to admire the towers of Iglesia de Nuestra Senora del Consuelo, before relaxing with a cocktail or 2 at the promenade on the beachfront.

Valencia has a variety of delicious local foods. We have listed some of our favourites below that you should definitely try while living in Valencia!

1. Orxata (Horchata) and Fartons

Horchata is a sweet, nutty and refreshing traditional drink. Served cold, it is a perfect cooler on a hot Valencian day. It looks like milk but it is actually made from tiger nuts (tigernuts), water, and sugar. Tiger nuts are small tubers that originate from Egypt and were introduced to Valencia by Arabs in the 8th century. Tiger nut milk is similar in taste to almond milk. Some say you either love it or hate it. Not only horchata is naturally vegan and gluten-free but it is also rich in nutrients and vitamins.

A traditional way to enjoy horchata is to have it with a farton – a long soft sponge cake covered with a sugar glaze. You can also dip it into the horchata for a bite full of flavour. There are many places to try a good glass of horchata as it is sold in most cafeterias around Valencia but a traditional shop where you can enjoy a Horchata and fartons is called a Horchatería . So if you want to feel like a local, you should definitely plan your visit there.

2. Paella

Valencia is the birthplace of this world-famous rice dish. When in the city this is one thing you definitely have to try! Traditional Valencian paella typically consists of rabbit, chicken, and garrafó (a type of local white bean). Other types of paella, including Seafood and vegetarian versions, are also widely available too. Another common type of paella served is black paella. This is made from squid ink which gives it its black colour. Paella is traditionally served in a large pan (like the image above) – perfect for sharing with your friends! ‘Paella’ is the Valencian word for the shallow pan it is traditionally cooked in and how it gets its name.

3. Esgarraet

A tapas dish that originates in Valencia is esgarraet. This is strips of codfish, with roasted bell peppers, olive oil and garlic. Esgarraet is the Valencian name for ‘tearing’ and is where it gets its name, referring to teared cod fish and bell peppers.

4. Flan

This is similar to creme caramel and is a typical cold Spanish dessert consisting of milk, sugar and eggs. It can come in a variety of flavours, including chocolate, orange, coffee or just traditional egg, and is topped with sweet caramel.

5. Arnardi

Traditionally served during Semana Santa (Spanish for Holy Week), Arnadi is a sweet cake consisting of pumpkin, almonds, sugar, and lemon zest. Typically served in a clay dish.

6. Pasteles de Boniato 

This is a Sweet Valencian empanada of Arab origin filled with boniato (a white sweet potato) or almonds. These are often served at Christmas time, as an after dinner treat. For those that follow a gluten-free diet, it is also common for the shell to be made with almond flour so you can still enjoy this traditional Christmas pastry.

7. Coca de llanda

This is a type of cake that is perfect as an afternoon snack. It consists of eggs, milk, olive oil, sugar, flour, walnuts, lemon zest, and baking powder. Llanda means rectangular and is where the name of the cake comes from as it is baked in a rectangular container. Once baked cinnamon is often sprinkled on top and the cake is served cut into chunks.

8. Fruits of Sant Donís

These are fruit-shaped marzipans, which are wrapped up and gifted to loved ones on the feast of Saint Denis of Paris (9th of October). Around this time, you can also find them shaped like fireworks, piulets and tronadors.

9. Agua de Valencia

Last but not least – the traditional Valencian cocktail – Agua de Valencia – a combination of cava, gin, vodka, and (ideally freshly squeezed) orange juice. It is a sweet and refreshing cocktail, similar to a mimosa. The drink was invented in 1959 by Constante Gil, a bartender who was challenged by the Basque travellers to come up with something new containing cava. The drink quickly became popular among Basque travellers and in the 1960s gained wider popularity during Valencian evenings.
